Located in the smartly attractive confines of the Covent Garden Hotel, Brasserie Max is as a charming a port of call for a cosy, romantic meal as it is a full-on party place with all your mates. The mood is the perfect tone of relaxed bonhomie we'd say. It's also right in the heart of ever-popular Covent Garden, packed as it is with happening shops, top theatres and swanky bars.
Everyone loves the interior. It does tend toward the theatrical, we grant you. But it's tasteful with rich warm colours, candles aplenty and quirky furniture with bright coverings. All very dramatic darling. The menu is fairly attention-grabbing too, with a creative choice of dishes and a good selection of wines. And if you feeling like posing, you can always prop up the divinely decadent pewter and mahogany Art Deco bar.
Once all the acting is over, you can chose from delights such as Rock oysters, vine tomato and chilli salsa, roasted quail with puy lentils, fig and anchovies, Dover sole with warm potato and grain mustard salad, and delicious pear and apple crumble with ginger and vanilla ice cream.Encore, of course.
