It's hard to believe that this gem of a French bistro has been delighting diners for over two decades now. As such, Café Des Amis has become one of the oldest restaurants in Covent Garden.
Recently revamped, this new and improved reincarnation is a glowingly chic brasserie and wine bar. The restaurant has kept its popular summer terrace, still heated on cooler days, and regulars still flock to enjoy the secluded al fresco eating.
The modern French menu is an object of desire and those having a glass or two fall in love the wine list - French by character but not overlooking the wonders of the New World.

| Next door to the Royal Opera House, this is a must for anyone going there, to nearby Joseph at the New London, and all other Covent Garden theatres. It's a busy, fun restaurant with a real buzz to it. The food is sophisticated without being fussy, and is attractively presented. My friend recommended the duck, which was the best he'd ever had (and he's from Canada, where they eat plenty of them), while I had a great fillet steak. Our starters had been equally good - especially the gammon hock and foie gras terrine, and the wine list was cosmopolitan and reasonably priced. Great fun. |
