A classic RAC award-winning restaurant in the heart of Mayfair, Madison's is part of the much-admired hotel, The Washington Mayfair. This divine establishment has the honour of being one of London's last family-run hotels.

The restaurant's Art Deco lounge and dining area is a magnet for hotel guests, locals and destination diners alike. Warm welcomes go hand-in-hand with understated hospitality and tinkling piano music. You can't help but relax here in the soft, plump sofas bathed by pools of soft light.

Curzon Street, Mayfair, has always been one of the smartest addresses in London (MI6 used to be based there) and it's still the home of some of London's scummiest dishes. Madison's is located in the Washington Mayfair hotel, and the elegant but relaxed ambience was aided by the piano playing that greets you as you come in and (unobtrusively) accompanies the meal.

• Pan fried king prawn infused with lemon grass, served with a coconut and kaffir lime reduction
• Scottish smoked salmon and Fuji apple with pickled baby asparagus
• Crab and lobster salad with ponzu dressing
• Fillet of wild sea bass with lemon and raisin cous cous and roasted cherry vine tomatoes
• Traditional fish and hand cut chips with mushy peas
• Char grilled Scottish salmon with shallot risotto and lemon and red pepper beurre blanc
• Rack of lamb with confit of middle neck and lavender honey flavoured jus
